Mr. Erickson
Cuba – Rushford Elementary School
Cuba – Rushford Elementary School is a very beautifully historic building that has retained its original design, character, and attractiveness. It was built in 1938 and has been through several facility upgrades. We are fortunate to have a school building that is traditional in style, aesthetically appealing, and yet modern with state of the art technology. Cuba – Rushford is a one to one district with all students in Pre – k thru 12 having access to I - Pads. CRE has a designation STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) Room that includes a full-time teacher. Our STEAM initiative provides all students with the opportunity to be creative, innovative, and critical thinkers.
There are approximately 400 students that attend school at CRE with a class average of eighteen. We also house a Head Start classroom, three BOCES classrooms and the ACCORD After School Program. The after-school program runs from 2:45 until 5:45 with approximately seventy participants. Do you know what really makes Cuba – Rushford Elementary so amazing? It is our dedicated staff that is committed to meeting the needs of each student by setting high expectations, pursuing mastery learning, and developing strong relationships with students and their families. CRE continues to focus on aligning the Next Generation Learning Standards with outstanding classroom instruction. Our NYS test scores are above the state average. A few highlights include 100% of our 4th grade students being proficient in science and 60% (40% state average) of our 3 – 5 grade students being proficient in math.
We have an outstanding PTO that helps to promote our character education program with monthly assemblies. They also provide a variety of fun activities during the regular school day and in the evenings throughout the school year. Please consider being part of this highly successful organization! They meet the second Thursday of every month in the school library at 3:15.
The Cuba – Rushford area is obviously a great place to live, work, and raise a family. I am so proud of our students because they are respectful and motivated to achieve to the best of their abilities. I have been the principal at CRE for 10 + years and continue to look forward to what we can accomplish together.
